We’re excited to celebrate another firm anniversary today – Alondra, a Howard Tax Analyst, has been with us for one year! She started at Howard as an intern and is now a full-time team member. During the last year, Alondra has made strides through her desire to continuously learn and grow. She never backs down from a complex technical challenge, always stepping up to the plate to assist her peers and our partners. Learn more about how her values align with Howard’s below!
What’s your ‘and?’
(What keeps you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated outside the office?)
Spending quality time with my family, friends, and my dog. I also like going out to concerts, traveling, and enjoying nature on a nice sunny day.
What’s your favorite memory from working at Howard?
My favorite days from Howard are the ones that I spent being an intern. It was fun being in the interns’ room, having my coworkers to talk to when I needed a mental break, and having all of us solve each other’s questions as we were all learning at the same pace and time. I will always cherish those moments, and I’m forever grateful that I now get to call those people my friends.
How do you use the Howard values regularly in your role?
Howard has taught me that accounting is much more than numbers- by using the Howard values, I have improved in all aspects of my role.
Engaged: I demonstrate my engagement by actively participating in meetings and taking initiative to solve problems. By staying focused and invested in my work, I can help ensure that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
Growing: I seek out opportunities to develop new skills, take on new challenges, and continuously improve my knowledge and expertise.
Caring: My caring nature can be demonstrated by showing empathy and understanding toward my colleagues. By considering the needs and concerns of others, I can help build positive relationships and foster a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Team member’s note: Alondra absolutely exhibits these values. Even when deadlines are tight, she’s always there to help her peers. She strives to grow her own knowledge while doing the same for those around her.
Who is a fellow Howard team member that’s made a positive impact on you and how?
I admire my coach, Laura, a lot; her work ethic and mentoring have made an impact on me. Laura has helped me clarify my goals, values, and priorities and has given me the guidance on how to align my work with what is most important to me. By providing feedback, support, and encouragement, she has helped me increase my confidence and competence in my role. She has also supported me by improving my communication skills, both with my coworkers and by expressing my own needs and desires. I confidently feel that I can come to her if I need to, work-related or not.
Team member’s note: Laura has particularly enjoyed bonding with Alondra through both being working moms, as they support each other professionally and personally in our Parents Group. Laura also notes the positive impact that Alondra has made on the firm as a whole.
How does working at Howard help you accomplish your personal and/or professional goals?
Howard has made working on my goals much easier through the Coaching Program- it’s truly been beneficial in teaching me how to determine and achieve goals in a way that works best for me, keeping me on track consistently. The flexibility and understanding that this job provides also gives me time to focus on my personal goals and achieve a healthier work-life integration.
