At Howard, honoring our team members’ years of service with the firm is important to us. We love to celebrate our team for their dedication, growth, and the passions and qualities that make them each unique!
This year, we’re kicking off anniversary celebrations with Brandy – a Supervising Senior on our Tax Team who’s been with us for five years! Read on for Q&A with Brandy to learn about her ability to collaborate with team members of all experience levels, her care for each client, and how she’s grown from an intern to a senior.
What’s your ‘and?’
(What keeps you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated outside the office?)
Any live sporting event (baseball and hockey are my favorites), live music and going to concerts, and I love animals. I have two dogs and three pygmy goats at home.
What’s your favorite memory from working at Howard?
Group volunteer activities are always my favorite memories at Howard, whether helping out in the garden at Bonton Farms or working with the Dallas back-to-school programs. Watching multiple Howard team members working for a good cause will always be my favorite memories.
How do you use one of the Howard values regularly in your role?
Growing – I am always growing at Howard both professionally and personally. I grow my knowledge every day while also growing as a leader by helping and caring about our Howard team.
Team member’s note: Another Howard value that Brandy exemplifies is “be clear to be kind.” She’s an excellent communicator, never shying away from direct conversations while still having kind intentions. Team members regularly come to Brandy for feedback and information because she’s known to be a caring person.
Who is a fellow Howard team member that’s made a positive impact on you and how?
Leisha is known as one of the most caring Howard team members. From interns to partners, she treats everyone with the same respect and kindness. From taking the time to help and teach the most complex tax issues to anyone who asks, to being able to talk baseball with me at any moment- she is a well-versed partner here at Howard and she’s more appreciated than she will ever know.
Team member’s note: Leisha is honored to have made this impact on Brandy. She always knew that Brandy’s personality would help her be successful, and, over time, Leisha has had the opportunity to watch her mature into a colleague and a leader.
How does working at Howard help you accomplish your personal and/or professional goals?
Howard allowed me to intern twice while finishing up my bachelor’s and then my master’s degree. I was treated like part of the team from the moment I started. This job has continued to help me grow from a college student to a full-time accounting professional. I am excited to see how I can continue to grow now as a Tax Supervising Senior.
