We’re excited to celebrate Rebecca’s 1-year anniversary at Howard! Rebecca’s journey at Howard is a unique one, as she took some time away from the firm and eventually re-joined our team (more on that in her Q&A). She’s now a Tax Manager, and we couldn’t be happier that she’s been back for a year!
Rebecca is known for being a sponge when learning new things and always asking questions that reflect her outside-the-box way of thinking. Her dedication to her clients is above and beyond, and she thrives on taking on new projects and challenges. Learn all about Rebecca inside and outside the office below!
What’s your ‘and?’
(What keeps you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated outside the office?)
My kids are always number one, but now that they’re grown, I have more time for running and weightlifting. I’ve also recently taken up motorcycle riding.
What’s your favorite memory from working at Howard?
My favorite memory might be that time I left Howard for two years and came back to find that, although many of the same great people were here, the firm had improved by leaps and bounds during my absence. I couldn’t be happier to be back.
How do you use the Howard values regularly in your role?
One of the Howard values is Gratitude. I try to be grateful for both the Howard team and our clients daily. Assume Positive Intent is another value. I find it creates a more peaceful mindset to assume that everyone is doing their best with only the best intentions.
Who is a fellow Howard team member that’s made a positive impact on you and how?
Leisha Gardner is a positive example to me. She provides excellent guidance and always seems to know what to say. Leisha is always willing and eager to help. Jim Howard is also a fantastic teacher when you have a technical question. He seems to have a solution in every situation.
Team member’s note: Leisha truly enjoys being Rebecca’s colleague and is thrilled that she returned to Howard. She also notes that Rebecca has a curiosity that’s infectious. Jim says that Rebecca is one of the smartest people he’s ever had the opportunity to work with! He also appreciates that Rebecca is always prompt and prepared, and her clients truly believe in her and her advice.
How does working at Howard help you accomplish your personal and/or professional goals?
Howard holds me to high standards and provides regular opportunities to challenge myself and grow both technically and as a leader.
