It’s time for another intern introduction! Today we’re featuring Julia, a Howard Tax Intern. We’ll recap the accounting experience she gained before joining the firm, what it’s like working at Howard during busy season, and her passion for her people and community below!
Before Howard
Last fall, Julia graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s in accounting from the University of North Texas. Early on in school, Julia took an accounting course from a professor who encouraged students to work in the industry. This led Julia to the accounting world, which has been a great fit for her, as she thrives on digging for and eventually finding the one right answer to any problem.
While in school, Julia completed multiple internships spanning both tax and audit. This isn’t her first busy season working in tax, which equipped her with the tools to start her tax internship here at Howard.
At Howard
When reflecting on her experiences so far at Howard, our people and the support they offer are what stick out to Julia. She says that our team is kind, open to any questions she has, and eager to help. In particular, team members Cain, Jose, Robert, Drew, and her coach, Alondra, have been extra supportive. Julia sees these members of our team often, as they frequently check in on our interns. This kind of camaraderie is what makes the Howard team exceptional!
Julia also notes that she benefits from the flexibility that Howard provides. She’s currently studying for the CPA and has ample time to dedicate to her studies even during busy season. Adapting the Howard work environment to our team members’ individual needs is important to us, and it’s great to see Julia making the most of it!
Beyond the Internship
In the next few years, Julia aspires to complete her CPA and work full time in accounting. Now that she’s graduated from school and has more free time, she also looks forward to exploring and getting more involved in her community. Looking into the next several years, Julia sees herself becoming more independent, maintaining a career in accounting, and progressing to a managerial position.
Outside the Office
Julia feels rejuvenated by the time she spends with her family. At the end of each day, she looks forward to quality time with her siblings and recapping the day with them. Additionally, Julia finds purpose in her faith. She aims to nurture with this part of her life by getting more involved at her church.
We’re thankful to have the opportunity to support Julia and get to know more about her personality and passions each day. Thank you, Julia!
