We’re celebrating another team member anniversary today! Emily, our Howard Marketing Specialist, has officially been with the firm for one year. While most of our team serves our clients in Dallas, Texas, Emily does communications work for the firm from Orlando, Florida. Even though she’s not physically with us most days, she’s always excited to collaborate with her peers and help the firm accomplish its goals. Get to know more about Emily below with Q&A about her unique role at Howard!

(What are your passions outside of work that keep you feeling fulfilled and rejuvenated?)
Dancing, scrapbooking, watching reality TV, and hanging out with my adorable cat Mayhem (who loves to make appearances during Zoom meetings).

What is your favorite story from working at Howard?
Even though I’m a fully remote team member, I have several memories that I cherish from my first year. I actually got to visit the office during the holidays last year, and I absolutely loved our office potluck! That was my first time meeting many of my peers in person, and everyone was very welcoming. It was so much fun seeing everyone’s Christmas and holiday sweaters, trying the food we all brought, and simply enjoying each other’s’ company. I shared many laughs with Tammy and Karen K especially!
How do you use one of the Howard values regularly in your role?
One of the Howard values is “act like an owner,” and I really connect with this. I work with a relatively small group at Howard on our communications, and it’s up to me to be creative, put my ideas into action, and speak to our various audiences. I have guidance from others, but I really try take ownership of my projects and make them my own. This is something I really enjoy because I know I have help and support when I need it, but I’m also assured that I can be innovative and do things in my own unique way.
How does working at Howard help you accomplish your personal and/or professional goals?
I’m currently a graduate student at the University of Florida, and Howard took me on knowing that I’m still learning and have other time commitments right now. Regardless, the firm has provided me so many opportunities for growth! I get to put the skills that I’m learning about in class each day to use with our internal and external communications. Chris, our CTO, is always encouraging me to learn more, try new ideas, and do what’s within my means. I feel very invested in, which allows me to do my best work and get the most from my time here.
